Graduation FAQ

Grad FAQ 2011

No adults (other than faculty and staff) are allowed on the arena floor at any time.

Food, drink, noise makers, beachballs, signs, or any other distractions are strictly prohibited.


First, make sure to pay your fees/fines!
Pay all fines by June 3, 2011 (graduation rehearsal) students will not receive tickets for indoor graduation AND will not be allowed to participate in the Senior All-Night Party. You will be able to pay at rehearsal. This includes ALL ATHLETIC FEES/FINES.

Rehearsal - Friday, June 3 8am-10:30am
Graduates must participate in rehearsal in order to take part of the ceremony. The Senior Breakfast will kick off the event at 8am in the Cafeteria. Rehearsal will follow immediately after in the Auditorium.

When and where is graduation?
This year’s graduation ceremony will be held Saturday, June 4th at 5:30pm at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center on the campus of Michigan State University.

Doors open: 3:30pm
Graduates must line up by: 4:30pm

How long does graduation take?
The ceremony takes about 1 hour 45 minutes. Including the ceremony, pictures afterward, time to get your diploma, etc. plan for about 2 1/2 hours.

Will I need tickets?
No. There is also no limit to the number of people per graduate. The Breslin Center has plenty of space!

What should I plan to wear to graduation?
Your cap, gown, and regalia of course! Most boys wear dress pants, dress shoes, and a dress shirt (tie suggested!) Many girls choose to wear a dress, skirt, capri pants, or shorts and a nice shirt.

What time should graduates line up for graduation?
4:30pm. Enter at Gate B and follow the signs.

Where will we park? Where should we enter?
There is no charge for parking.

The lots below are listed by proximity to the Breslin Center.

Lot 63 E & W: Located in front of the Breslin Center off of Harrison Rd. There is accessible parking in these lots as well.

Lot 79: Also located off of Harrison Road east of the Breslin Center in front of Spartan Stadium (football stadium).

Lot 66 Parking Ramp: Located nearby off of Kalamazoo Street by Jenison Fieldhouse.

Lot 62: Located nearby on Red Cedar Road on the north side of Spartan Stadium.

Anything else I should do before graduation?
Seniors should continue to put forth their best academic effort until the end of the school year. Make sure you are caught up in all of your classes. Don’t forget the fourth quarter senior behavioral expectations. Pay any fines you may owe.

The day of graduation, make sure to eat well and drink a lot of water. We wouldn’t want you to get dehydrated. Trust us- this is important.

We want your final weeks with us to be positive and fun. High school graduation is one of the most memorable times of your life but it can be a stressful time too. It will go by fast, so, make sure to take time to enjoy it!
