Graduation FAQ
Graduation FAQ ‘09
First, make sure to pay your fees/fines!
Pay all fines by June 5, 2009 (graduation rehearsal) students will not receive tickets for indoor graduation AND will not be allowed to participate in the Senior All-Night Party. You will be able to pay at rehearsal. This includes ALL ATHLETIC FEES/FINES.
When and where is graduation?
This year’s graduation ceremony will be held Sunday, June 7th at 2:00pm at the Howell High School Memorial Stadium football field.
Outdoors? What if it rains?
We are certainly hoping it won’t! If it does rain, we will move the ceremony indoors to the high school’s field house.
We will let you know via the school website, the schools’ front marquees, or you can call the school’s main line (517) 540-8300 and dial extension 86176 to hear an informational recording. You can also check: http://howellgraduation.blogspot.com/. We should know no later than 10am whether or not to move indoors.
Will I need tickets?
For the ceremony on the football field, you will not need any tickets. We’ll have plenty of room for your family and friends.
However, if we do move indoors, you will need tickets. Due to space constraints, we can only give four tickets per graduate. The students will receive these tickets at graduation rehearsal. No extra tickets will be available.
Rain or shine, there will be a professional closed-circuit television feed in the high school auditorium. There will be plenty of seats in the auditorium for anybody who won’t be able to get into the field house.
Professional DVDs and photographs of the ceremony will be available for purchase and order forms will be given to graduates at rehearsal.
When is graduation rehearsal?
Graduation rehearsal will be held on Friday, June 5 at 8:00am. Graduates will meet in the Field House. If you want to participate in the graduation ceremony, you MUST attend rehearsal. NO EXCEPTIONS! You will also receive your tickets for the indoor ceremony (if you don’t owe any fines) and learn everything you need to know about the big day. We should be done around 11am.
What should I plan to wear to graduation?
Your cap, gown, and regalia of course! Plan for the weather too. Most boys wear dress pants, dress shoes, and a dress shirt (tie suggested!) Many girls choose to wear a dress, skirt, capri pants, or shorts and a nice shirt. Do not wear high heels due to walking on the football field’s turf! You may wear “chunky” or wide heels, flats, slide-ons, sandals or flip-flops. We don’t want you getting stuck in the field!
What time should graduates arrive on Sunday?
Graduates will begin lining at 1pm.
Where will we park? Where should we enter?
We will have people directing you to open parking when you arrive. For the outdoor ceremony, enter at the main entrance of the football field. You can purchase water at the entrances too. Go grab the best seat you can- seating will be first come, first served! Remember, nobody will be allowed onto the track or football field except those taking part in the ceremony.

If you have anyone in your family that needs a handicapped seating area:
-On the football field, the handicapped seating area is located in the front row of the 50 yard line. There is a wheelchair ramp behind the home stands at the 50 yard line as well.
-In the Field House, we will have an area roped off and labeled for handicapped seating.
Anything else I should do before graduation?
Seniors should continue to put forth their best academic effort until the end of the school year. Make sure you are caught up in all of your classes. Don’t forget the fourth quarter senior behavioral expectations. Pay any fines you may owe.
The day of graduation, make sure to eat well and drink a lot of water. We wouldn’t want you to get dehydrated. Trust us- this is important.
We want your final weeks with us to be positive and fun. High school graduation is one of the most memorable times of your life but it can be a stressful time too. It will go by fast, so, make sure to take time to enjoy it!
